Crochet: Modern Oma Blanket

Can you believe I'm up to project #14 already? Usually I'm a crocheter that gets so distracted by new projects, and mental breakdowns lol, that I finish probably about 5 items a year. I have made a bunch of things, placemats, coasters, a cushion cover, bags, a very large blanket, socks, beanies, baby blankets, and other things I've forgotten about, but this year has been the year I have really committed to finishing everything I start. It's worked! I'm quite proud of myself.

This is the point I felt like something much different than scarves. Scarves were great to give my confidence a boost when it came to completing projects, but after awhile you need a break.

Challenge Item #14: Modern Oma Blanket

Description

This is what you could call a modern granny square blanket, using the same stitch as a granny square, but in rows in four alternating colours with a cream border and grey border. It's a good size for a couch throw, lap blanket, or kid's bed.

Hook Size and Yarn

Hook: 5.0 MM/H Yarn: The same yarn I've been using on most of these projects this year, 4 Seasons Spot Saver USA style yarn in Cream, Grey, Violet, and Silver. It's hardy, washable, easy to work with, and doesn't split.

Pattern: Modern Granny Blanket by Daisy Farm Crafts

Overall

I added a border to this blanket and I kinda wish I hadn't. I don't believe in wishes though so... awkward.

Seriously though, I enjoyed making the blanket. It was an easy and rhythmic pattern to follow, it worked up well, I finished it in roughly two weeks, and it has a nice drape to it. I may make another blanket using this stitch, but I probably won't add a border to it.

As to what's happening with the blanket? Well, Winston claimed it. At the height of his illness it was the closest thing I had to bundle him up and now its a bunny blanket. He loves it. I'm always making a bunny burrito out of him with it. I had a pic I snapped, but my phone died and I lost everything 😑

Never mind, I've got a new phone now. I'm sure there's going to be photo of a bunny burrito on it in future.
