Crochet: V-Stitch Scarf

It's scarf time. This is one I did when I was still recovering from being sick. The next one will be for my SO as she doesn't have a black scarf and we are heading to Tasmania at the end of the month. We need all the warmth we can get! It might snow. I haven't been near snow since I was a kid. It's exciting.
I'm happy with my crochet challenge so far. I feel like I'm getting through the yarn. It does help I've decided to start with the bulkier yarn and I do have a lot of it πŸ‘€

Challenge Item #5: V-Stitch Scarf

Description

This is a two-toned, apparently I love two-toned, scarf using pink and cream with one half mirroring the other in style, but swapped colours.

The pattern does have a bulkier feel to it compared to other V-stitch patterns, but still with a lacy factor.

The dimensions come to 210cm (82inches) long x 24cm (9.4inches) wide which makes it the longest scarf I have made yet. I love a long scarf, but after this one I'm going to scale it back down to 190cm (75inches) in length.

Hook and Yarn

Hook: 5MM/H Yarn: I used 4 Seasons Spot Saver in Cream and Violet which actually looks more pink to me. I've got a lot of this yarn. Urgh, so much! I think I was working on making a blanket, but got bored? I dunno. It's a good yarn to work with, but I'm taking a break from it.
I was going to do this scarf in mostly violet with cream on the ends, but I realised almost halfway through I wouldn't have enough of the violet.

I did follow the pattern, but altered it with a beginning and finishing row of HDC. The first five rows were done in cream, followed by 54 rows in violet, which brought me to the middle. I then swapped to cream for the next 54 rows, finishing with violet for the remaining 5 rows. I was going to attach a fringe to finish, but I don't feel this yarn would work with a fringe.

Pattern: V-Stitch Scarfie by Cow from Mars

Overall

I'm happy I've created another scarf and feel it qualifies for donation, but I'm not in love with it. I feel meh towards it and I think it's a combination of things. The pattern itself is quite straight forward and works up quickly so it's not the pattern's fault. I enjoy the change in colour and how I've broken it up, but it might actually be the colours. White and pink/violet don't feature heavily in my wardrobe, but I do feel the colours compliment each other. I wouldn't wear it. It's not my style.

I think about what my Oma used to make and wonder if she often created blankets in colour schemes she wasn't a big fan of. Did she create something she didn't love because she wanted to cater to other tastes? I know she didn't love everything she made, but why?

I definitely need a break from these colours and yarn! In the meantime, hand yoga.
