Crochet: Ripple Scarf

This is the third project in my crochet challenge. Apparently I'm having a chevron, aka ripple stitch, binge. In other news I found someone to give my Red and Brown Oma blanket to. My delightful Nephew C came over with my Moeke for lunch and games. It's something we do every now and then. It was cold and I gave Nephew C the blanket to keep warm. He loved it, which is great, and I offered it to him for keeps. He has the best reaction to things too. He is forthright, positive, and enthusiastic when he comes across something he enjoys. So naturally his reaction to the blanket was only the best kind.

I've found somewhere to donate a few items as well. A women's shelter nearby is happy to accept some items and I'm currently on a mission to make them scarves, beanies, and cowls they can hand out during these cold months.

Challenge Item #3: Ripple Scarf

Description

This ripple scarf is a three-toned scarf, light and dark colouring, which has turned out pretty cute even if I do say so myself.

The scarf measures 194cm (76inches) long by 22cm (8.6inches) wide. It's a good size to wrap around your neck once and have a decent amount left to hang on either side.

The yarn combined with the pattern creates a really lovely drape for a scarf. Not too much, but not too little.

Hook Size and Yarn

Hook: 5MM/H Yarn: I used 4 Seasons Spot Saver yarn in colours Cream, Pink, and Grey. I think this yarn is quite good for the price. It's easy to work with, doesn't split, and has a good range of colours.

I began with 6 rows of cream, followed with 8 rows of pink, and then 56 rows of grey. I ended the scarf with 8 rows of pink and then 6 rows of cream.

Pattern: One-Skein Chevron Scarf by Dena Skelly

Overall

I really enjoyed making this scarf and the more I look at it the more I like it lol. It's what my Oma used to do, have it out on display and periodically stare at it, after she had finished it.

The pattern is an easy one. I've done ripple stitch previously, but it had been so long I needed a refresher of how-to. So if you need something like that then I recommend the above pattern.

Combining the colours of cream and pink gave me a craving for Neapolitan ice cream so there may be a scarf called Neapolitan in the future... if spot saver ever comes in chocolate.

Project also posted to my Ravelry and Instagram.
