Someone asked if they could order one of my scarves today! I am giving it to them and not charging them for it. These scarves were going to go to charity, originally, but given the state of things and how long this lockdown is going for (3 months so far, I think), I would be happy for any of these scarves to go to a new owner instead of sitting in storage for a year. I have months to make a bunch of scarves and blankets for charity, but only so much space in storage.
Just having someone saying they loved my crochet enough to want to order it for themselves was wonderful. I am mostly crocheting for the fun of it and because it is relaxing, but it's also validating having positive feedback.
Challenge Item #11: Waffle Stitch Scarf
Description
This is, what I consider, to be a narrower scarf with a plushness to it given the type of stitch used. I love the waffle because it makes it kind of spongey when you squish the scarf. The colour palette is variegated between four different colours.Dimensions come to 15cm (5.9inches) wide by 170cm (66.9inches) long
Hook Size and Yarn
Hook: 5 H Yarn: I used 4 Seasons Spot Saver USA Style yarn in Silver, Grey, Violet, and Cream. I bought so much of this yarn that, even though I've made a bunch of scarves with it, I have heaps! I am determined to get through it and decided it would be perfect for a waffle stitch. I still have plenty left....
It's an easy and comfortable yarn to work with. I don't LOVE it, but I enjoy its value. It doesn't split, it's on the chunky side so works up quickly, comes in a variety of colours, and feels pretty hardy. I don't think I've washed anything I've made with this yarn yet, but I'll find out soon enough if it stands up well to a washing machine. That's right, I wash everything I make.
