Crochet: Go With The Flow Scarf

I just killed my phone lol I dropped it and now the screen is gone and the phone is so dead. The funny thing is I was planning to buy a new one on Saturday, payday 😭 I can't... Besides posting and updating things via my Mac, which is ancient, my phone is one of the main devices I use to access crochet patterns and Ravelry. Can I survive for 2.5 days? Who knows? It's funny how dependant we get on our smart phones. Luckily I transferred all my photos over to my Mac the other day and I'm currently making a ripple blanket so don't need to refer to crochet notes.

Seriously, the odds. You've gotta laugh.

Challenge Item #12: Go With The Flow Scarf

Description

This is one chunky, long, scarf. Oomph she chunky and I love it. Really chunky with drape and heft to it making it lovely and cosy when it's on. The pattern is worked lengthways giving it that two-toned striped pattern.

Dimensions come to 16cm (6.2inches) wide x 222cm (87inches) long

Hook Size and Yarn

Hook: 8 L because I misplaced my 9mm 😧 Yarn: Moda Vera Hampton Soft Chunky yarn in colour-ways 01 and 02. Basically white and light brown.  I love this yarn because it is SO SOFT and SO CHUNKY, but I hate this yarn because it splits. Urgh, splits so much! Then if you work it enough it begins to unravel! HATE this yarn, but did I mention how soft and chunky it is? I could just roll around on it, it's so, so soft.

Pattern: Go with the Flow Super Scarf by Kinga Erdem

I altered my scarf by changing my starting chain number to 141 and not including a fringe. I also only used the front cross double crochet stitch and completely dispensed with the back cross double crochet stitch which made the end product look different, but only slightly. I simply kept with the front stitch because working the back stitch is annoying lol and that's it.

I love the idea of working chains into the back bump for the foundation row. It has such a lovely look to it! Much neater and more squared off so I will use that method when I feel it suits from now on.

I have definitely decided once and for all I do not like working scarf patterns lengthways. I guess I could work on my tension with the starting chain, but I don't have the same issue with anything else so... cbf?

Overall

I know I said I hate the yarn. I do. I hate it and I love it. I really do. Working with it makes me happy and pisses me off, but the finished product? I'm a little envious of whomever will have this, but also incredibly pleased for someone to enjoy it. It's going to be so warm and so cosy for that person

I also love the colour combination, but I'm not a huge fan of the pattern. I really believe it's only because of my issue with working lengthwise. After I got past the first row it was a breeze and worked up fast. It was easily a 2 hour project once I got going.

Project posted to my Ravelry and Instagram.
